Pennifi Class — K-12 & Post-Secondary Financial Literacy for Schools

Pennifi Class is a curriculum-aligned financial-literacy product for teachers, students, parents, schools, and school boards. It is a separate product from Pennifi Personal — Class does not ship the 16 personal-finance AI agents. Class is AI-free by default on every student, teacher, and parent free tier; AI features are consent-gated and hierarchically controlled at the school and class level.

Who Pennifi Class Is For

  • Teachers — Roster import, assignment builder, live classroom mode, server-graded quiz workbench, gradebook CSV export.
  • Students — 25 lessons, 12-sim-month budgeting simulator, 25-question mock graduation exam, certificate PDF at 70%+ pass.
  • Parents — Weekly topic-level digests, consent gating for AI and analytics. Parents never see quiz answers, simulator balances, or student financial decisions.
  • Schools — School admin console, bell schedules, roster oversight, signed Data Processing Agreement, k-anonymity (k≥5) on school-level analytics.
  • School Boards & Districts — Anonymised coverage heatmaps, curriculum-alignment reports, SAML SSO, cross-school rollups with k-anonymity (k≥5).
  • Sponsors — Credit unions, CPA bodies, and FIs can sponsor a school's license. Sponsor branding is restricted to the student dashboard, marketing pages, and site footer only — never inside lessons, quizzes, or the simulator.

Curriculum & Simulator

25 lessons total: 12 core + 13 elective. Every lesson is mapped to an NGPF (Next Gen Personal Finance) outcome and a provincial financial-literacy strand expectation (TVO Grade-10 today; Quebec, BC, and US state mappings ship next). Lessons cover paystubs, OSAP, credit cards, mortgages, investing, taxes, and fraud awareness.

The Pennifi Sim compresses 12 sim-months into a 30-minute play session with real CPP/EI/ON-tax math, credit-score mechanics, rent auto-debits, credit-card interest, and scam-scenario decisions. Teachers can scrub any student's timeline to replay decisions.

Class Privacy, Consent & Compliance

  • AI-free by default for students, teachers, and parents on free tiers. This is a hard product constraint, enforced at the component and RLS layers.
  • Hierarchical consent — parental consent gates AI features and analytics for each student. School-wide defaults propagate down; class-level overrides are allowed within school policy.
  • K-anonymity (k≥5) enforced on every school-level and district-level analytic surface, including leaderboards. No individual student is identifiable in aggregated views.
  • Data Processing Agreement signed with every school before rostering. PIPEDA and MFIPPA aligned.
  • SAML SSO on the Board/District tier.

Classroom Workflows

  1. Board or school onboards — signs a DPA, adds teachers, and configures school-wide AI/consent policy.
  2. Teachers issue a 6-character invite code — students join without creating a full Pennifi consumer account. The invite code is the only allowlist bypass.
  3. Teachers assign lessons and quizzes — assignments, live classroom sessions, and the sim run inside the teacher's workbench.
  4. Students complete lessons and the sim — quizzes are server-graded (SECURITY DEFINER RPCs; students cannot self-grade).
  5. Parents receive weekly digests — topic-level progress only. No individual quiz answers.
  6. School and board admins see coverage heatmaps and curriculum-alignment reports, always k-anonymised.

Class FAQ

Does Pennifi Class use AI on student accounts?

No. AI is off by default on every student, teacher, and parent free tier in Class. AI features require explicit parental consent and school-level policy allowance. This is a hard product constraint.

Is Pennifi Class the same product as Pennifi Personal?

No. Class is a separate product with its own curriculum, simulator, and gradebook. Class does not ship the 16 personal-finance AI agents that Pennifi Personal offers; those are exclusive to the consumer product.

How do students join a class?

Teachers issue a 6-character invite code. Students join without creating a full Pennifi consumer account — the invite code is the only allowlist bypass.

Is Class aligned to a curriculum standard?

Yes. Lessons map to NGPF outcomes and provincial financial-literacy expectations (TVO Grade-10 today; Quebec, BC, and US state mappings next).

Do parents see quiz answers or simulator balances?

No. Parents only receive topic-level weekly digests. Individual quiz answers, simulator balances, and student financial decisions are never shared with parents.

How is student data protected in aggregate reports?

K-anonymity (k≥5) is enforced on every school-level and district-level analytic surface, including leaderboards. Rollups below the threshold are suppressed.
